Japanese Association of Development Economics (JADE) Annual Conference
The Institute for Economic Development will host a special session at the Japanese Association of Development Economics (JADE) Annual Conference to present findings from the World Development Report 2025: Standards for Development.
The JADE conference brings together leading academics to explore key issues in development economics, political economy, and social transformation. The event will feature keynote addresses from prominent economists, including Professor Rocco Macchiavello of the London School of Economics, Professor Ran Abramitzky of Stanford University, and Professor Mushfiq Mobarak of Yale University.
Other sessions will cover a wide range of topics, including urban and housing economics, the impact of local politics on industrialization, market structure and financial inclusion, and the links between infrastructure, climate, and social conflict. Research presented will draw on evidence from countries across the globe, including Cambodia, China, Ethiopia, India, Japan, Kenya, the Philippines, Tanzania, and Uganda. The conference will also feature the Fuwa Award Lecture, recognizing outstanding contributions to the field.
