Shaping Asia’s Future Prosperity with Quality Growth

The Institute for Economic Development is pleased to partner with the Asian Development Bank Institute to host the high-level conference Shaping Asia’s Future Prosperity with Quality Growth - First Policy Dialogue Roundtable. Building on the findings of the 2024 World Development Report on the Middle-Income Trap, the event will examine the structural reforms, policy innovations, and institutional arrangements that enabled past waves of rapid growth in Asia. The program will explore how these lessons can be adapted for today’s more complex global environment.

The conference will bring together senior policymakers, academics, private sector leaders, and development practitioners to discuss how Asian economies can sustain momentum in the face of slowing productivity, demographic shifts, and technological change. Sessions will address themes such as industrial upgrading, regional integration, human capital development, and the role of digital transformation in driving inclusive growth. The dialogue will also consider how Asia’s growth story can provide insights for other regions facing similar challenges.
