Leaving No One Behind: Social Policies for Inclusive Growth
Can data help us understand whether people are moving toward better jobs, stronger livelihoods, and greater economic mobility?
The Institute for Economic Development (IED) participated in the 4th Edition of the African Economic Symposium in Morocco. During the session, Leaving No One Behind: Social Policies for Inclusive Growth, Gero Carletto, Head of the IED Rome Center, highlighted why inclusive growth begins with better data.
If people, places, and firms are missing from the data, they are likely to be missing from policy decisions too.
He emphasized three key priorities: investing in foundational data systems, including household, farm, and firm surveys; building interoperability by design so that different data sources can work together; and making data more accessible, usable, and openly available.
