Trade and Climate Change Summer School

The Institute for Economic Development inaugural Summer School in Perugia, Italy, garnered significant interest, attracting over 200 applications to join this workshop. Over the course of five days, the selected participants discussed the latest trends in climate policy, focusing on trade and development.

Through a mix of lectures, interactive seminars, and exercise sessions, participants explored the latest trends and recent work in the active research field on trade and climate change. Topics covered in depth included carbon leakage and countermeasures; the use quantitative trade models in the context of environmental policies and shocks; innovation and the diffusion of green technology; the energy, green and circular economy transition; and unintended and intended trade impacts of climate policies. 

The Summer School brought scholars and policy experts from academia, research institutes, and government agencies passionate about understanding the complex relationship between international trade and environmental sustainability. 

The dynamic program in Perugia presented a unique opportunity to enhance participants' expertise and to engage with peers from diverse backgrounds.
