Trade, Value Chains and Financial Linkages in the Global Economy

The Bank of Italy, the European Central Bank, the World Bank Development Economics Vice-Presidency's Research Group, and the Institute for Economic Development organized the third edition of this conference to bring together leading world scholars from both academia and policy institutions to take stock of recent developments in international trade, value chains, financial linkages and their macroeconomic implications.

With a particular attention to the implications of recent events such as ongoing wars and disruptions, geopolitical tensions, climate-related shocks, papers of the third edition of the conference will, inter alia, focus on: the reconfiguration of international trade, global value chains, financial flows and firm strategies; firm-to-firm linkages; the role of multinational corporations; trade, investment and industrial policies; strategic interdependencies and value chain dynamics in renewables, natural resources, and critical inputs markets.

The welcome address was delivered by Andrea Brandolini, Deputy Director General for Economics, Statistics and Research at Banca d’Italia. The keynote lectures were held by Isabelle Méjean (Sciences Po) and Amit Khandelwal (Yale University).

The papers presented at the last edition are available here.
