Agnes Kalibata, Founder and Chair: C4Impact Advisory Group, delivered the keynote Agribusiness for Jobs at the recent Africa Growth and Opportunity: Research in Action (AGORA) Conference. In her presentation, she explored the transformative potential of Africa’s agricultural sector.
Every dollar we put in agriculture is a dollar that is going to reduce poverty; it's going to impact malnutrition. It's a dollar that is going to grow economies and create jobs for many African countries.
Dr. Kalibata highlighted agriculture as the continent’s largest employer and a vital engine for economic growth, poverty reduction, and job creation. She addressed persistent challenges—such as low yields, trade barriers, and infrastructure gaps—while emphasizing the immense opportunities that lie in strategic investments, regional integration, and innovative approaches like food corridors.
